RECOMMENDED KOH CHANG SPA & RESORTS BY TRAVELLERS

~1~
The Spa Koh Chang Resort
15/4 Moo 4 Baan Salak kok, Koh Chang 23170, Thailand

A beautiful and tranquil spa and resort on Koh Chang. The Spa Koh Chang Resort sets in the most beautiful scenery of gardens. The landscape of this Koh Chang resort shows with the love lavished on the design of this property's gardens. Set slightly inland on a small lagoon, with a scattering of rooms up a hillside. The resort provides a great vegetarian restaurant, massage room, yoga roof, small pool, and even a little outdoor gym.

This place is a real garden of eden - very tranquil. You can't see the sea, but can hire kayaks to take yourself there through the mangroves. They lay on a minibus to the busier beaches 3 times a week. If you want to chill out in a beautiful environment, The Spa Koh Chang Resort is perfect. Not super-lux, but certainly comfortable.

~2~
Koh Chang Cliff Beach Resort
38/4 Baan Klongphrao, Koh Chang 23170, Thailand

Koh Chang Cliff Beach Resort is a place you will be pleased with splendid seas and tropical breezes. If you do not want a swimming pool crammed full of loud noise, then stay at this resort, and take one of the extremely private cliff top houses. Enjoy sea-island-jungle views from a balcony, it is the romantic view completely satisfied for one who adores the olden days of Jim Thompson's Thailand.

The sheets, decor and even the bath fittings are of an unexpectedly high calibre. The food is however, sub par, compared to the excellent buffet breakfast one expects at four star hotels in Bangkok.

A giant hammock on the beach, sailing and paddling equipment for hire and a covered massage hut built on rocks overlooking the sea for the most relaxing rolling surf Thai massage you could ever want are waiting for you when you trek down from your own little house on the cliffside.

~3~
Koh Chang Tropicana Resort & Spa
26/3 Moo 4 Klong Prao beach, Koh Chang 23170, Thailand

A recommended hotel at Koh Chang for Young singles, Girlfriend getaway, Older travelers, Families with young children. There is an excellent restaurant in Whitesands which is built in a tree. The food and atmosphere is great. But the hotel food in Koh Chang Tropicana Resort and Spa is expensive compared to Thai prices. There are good restaurants to eat at. Next door is the Blue Lagoon cookery school - this is excellent.

The room in this Koh Chang resort is lovely. Lots of trees and shrubs so you can feel private and a large amount of space with massive bed and lounge area, plus mini bar and huge shower and toilet.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, the place was spotlessly clean. Amazing location in a very quiet area, considering the current amount of development on Koh Chang.

BANGKOK DAY SPA

What Is A Day Spa ?

Author: Chris Powell

A day spa is a great place where you can take the time to go and pamper yourself. These establishments can be found all over the country and can offer many benefits to the user.
Many of these places offer a wide variety of treatments and relief from the everyday stresses of life. They have a wide variety of things that are designed to make you feel special and pampered in getting you to that level of peace and happiness that you desire to make your body feel good and relieved.

These day spas are located all over the place and some of them will have different themes and styles associated with them. Some of them will even be attached to a hotel or resort in order for you to fully appreciate all that they have to offer in an effort to give you a true feeling of relaxation and enjoyment.

Aromatherapy
Aromas are used to identify the oils, to determine adulteration, and to stir the memory, but not to directly bring about a cure or healing. It is the "essence" of the oil--its chemical properties--that gives it whatever therapeutic value the oil might have. Furthermore, vapors are used in some but not all cases of aromatherapy. In most cases, the oil is rubbed onto the skin or ingested in a tea or other liquid. Some aromatherapists even consider cooking with herbs a type of aromatherapy.

Aromatherapy is a term coined by French chemist René Maurice Gattefossé in the 1920's to describe the practice of using essential oils taken from plants, flowers, roots, seeds, etc., in healing. The term is a bit misleading, since the aromas of oils, whether natural or synthetic, are generally not themselves therapeutic.

Tips : Thai Massage & Spa

1. Try to come at off-peak hours

Your spa experience may be more relaxing and leisurely when you're there at a less crowded time.

2. Explore the possibilities

Ask for a full description of any treatment that sounds intriguing. Be open to experimentation. That's how youl'l find new treatments to enjoy.

3. Get advice regarding scheduling

If you plan on having more than one treatment, ask if the spa has recommendations regarding the order in which you receive them. Choosing the right sequence may enhance your pleasure. Some facials are more suitable before a body treatment, and some are more appropriate afterward. Many spas will have packages that give you the treatments in the most appropriate order.

4. Share your personal health history

The spa can help you plan accordingly. If you have conditions such as asthma, diabetes, or lupus, you should get your doctors okay for any treatment youd like to try. People with high blood pressure or a heart condition may want to avoid body wraps or any treatment that involves heat or detoxification.

Those with varicose veins may want to avoid heat treatments to those areas, and people with iodine allergies should avoid marine products such as seaweed.

Pregnant women should avoid essential oils and anything that could raise body temperature, such as body wraps, saunas/steambaths and Jacuzzis.

Mention any prescription drugs you are using in order to avoid any services or products that might irritate your skin or otherwise be harmful.

5. Anticipate how the treatment will fit into your other plans

For example, if youre having a facial treatment that may leave your skin temporarily irritated or blotchy, you may not want to go to a romantic dinner afterward.

6. Allow enough time for your visit

Plan to spend a least 15 minutes sipping a beverage, relaxing, and chatting or enjoying some solitude. And try not to rush yourself at the end of your visit. This way you wont have to be concerned if your visit takes a little longer than you anticipated, and youll prolong the pleasure of relaxation.

Special notice :

The person providing treatment may not be fluent in your language. Be sure that any questions or concerns you have are communicated clearly and understood before any treatment begins.

Some spa staff, especially at the cheaper, more informal shops, may have had minimal training in massage and other techniques. If anything feels uncomfortable, painful or otherwise undesirable, ask to stop the treatment immediately.
